The protections can be used to protect 50 Ω coaxial cables equipped with type N connectors leading to or from the outside installations protected against direct lightning strike LPZ (lightning protection zone) 0B,C,D and equipment connected to these cable installations.

The coaxial narrowband surge protection BrOK®, type PKO-N-lambda-120M-BCD/F-F is a typ 1+2+3 (lightning current drain + surge arester+fine protection), operating on the principle of a short-circuited quarter resonator tuned to the center of the frequency band 2,4 GHz. The protections can be used to protect 50 Ω coaxial cables equipped with type N connectors leading to or from the outside installations protected against direct lightning strike LPZ (lightning protection zone) 0B,C,D and equipment connected to these cable installations.

The surge protections guard against the impact of the electromagnetic impulses associated with the atmospheric discharges during lightning storms. The surge protections guard equipment and instruments against damages usually caused by direct lightning strike of the coaxial cable as specified by IEC 61312-1 (tested by current surge wave of 2.5 kA and duration of 10/350 µs).

In order to facilitate proper functioning of any surge protection it is important to provide an adequate connection to the equi-potential lead of the protected system EP. This connection must be made using a copper conductor of at least 2.5 mm2. The protection is simply inserted in the line using connectors type N/F-F. Rugged construction of the protections assures reliable drainage of lightning currents thus protecting the equipment against thermal destruction. The effectiveness of the BrOK® protections allows them to be installed even in enclosures constructed using thermo-plastic materials.
